About Chalet des Mômes ...
You'll find this cosy 4 star chalet just outside the ski resort of Chinaillon, a short drive from the pistes, and close to shops and restaurants. But you don't really need to use your car every day - the ski bus stops regularly just 100m away, and it’s only one stop to the pistes at Chinaillon.
The views from the chalet are stunning, and are perhaps best enjoyed from the fabulous Scandinavian-style jacuzzi, which has its own terrace.
Chalet des Mômes' proximity to slopes, walks, shops and restaurants means it’s sure to be a favourite with OVO Network guests.

Accommodation at Chalet des Mômes, which sleeps 8, is set over three floors.
There are four spacious bedrooms where quality bed linens, throws and cushions will ensure you get a great night’s sleep.
The first bedroom is on the ground floor, and has its own bathroom. The two bedrooms on the first floor share a bathroom and a separate toilet, and there’s a fourth bedroom on the mezzanine floor, overlooking the living space, which has a separate shower room.
The open plan living area opens onto a spacious furnished terrace - a great place to start the day with breakfast or end it with a hot chocolate or a vin chaud. In the evenings, curl up on the large sofa and catch up on the day with friends. A big picture window means you can enjoy the fabulous views from here, but if you’d like to get a little closer, head outside to the Scandinavian hot tub - just the spot for winding down after an active day in the mountains.
Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the kit room, where you can leave your outdoor gear when you get in after a day on the mountains, and it will be waiting for you, warm and dry, the next day. You can also store your skis and bikes here.
There are plenty of restaurants in Chinaillon but if you’re staying in, the dining table is big enough for everyone and the kitchen has everything you need to cook up a feast - there’s even a fondue set and raclette so that you can enjoy a real taste of the mountains.
About the area ...
It’s only 1.2km from Chalet des Momes to the ski lift, but the ski bus stops just 100m from your door and runs very regularly, so there’s no need to get the car out if you’d prefer not to.
With your Aravis ski pass, you’ve got all the Lake Annecy ski resorts at your disposal - more than 220km of perfect pistes. Kids will love the great sledge run nearby and the start of the cross-country ski piste is close too. Beginners in this sport will love the nearby Evo Nordic Park, which has a circuit featuring a variety of terrains, while boarders will appreciate the Snowpark.
Non-skiers can catch the bus into Chinaillon, go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or swimming in La Clusaz, where the heated indoor and outdoor pools are open during the winter and summer seasons. There’s also snowshoeing, sledging, dog-sledding and sleigh rides to choose from!
In the spring and summer, a network of walking and biking trails cover the mountains around Chalet des Mômes, and you can pick up a route map for either at the tourist office in Chinaillon - don’t miss the walk to the amazing waterfall just below the chalet.
There’s a fantastic swimming pool complex in Le Grand Bornand, with a restaurant and grassy areas for picnics.But If you’re looking for something a little more challenging, there’s a climbing school, via ferrata routes, a tree-top adventure park, canyoning, white-water rafting and paragliding all nearby.
August sees the international children’s festival - Au Bonheur des Mômes - in Le Grand Bornand, a week of magic shows, circus acts, theatre, games and workshops, with a grand firework finale.
You’re in the heart of Reblochon country, so on your travels don’t forget to pick up some of this delicious cheese from a local farm or market - it’s delicious in a tartiflette!

Le Grand Bornand is an idyllic Alpine village which happens to be surrounded by some great skiing and in summer, a superb mountain playground.
There are none of the huge hotel complexes you'll find in other ski resorts – just a friendly welcome all year round.
Families are particularly welcome, with a great programme of activities to keep kids of all ages busy and happy.

The OVO Network Review
Chalet des Momes is a four bedroom, three bathroom chalet for eight guests, spread over three floors and 156m2 of floor space. The chalet is in a great location for those who prefer to be in the calm.
It has views across to the pistes in Chinaillon, with easy and quick access to the village, via ski bus or car.
We feel Chalet des Momes will especially appeal to families with young children who may have lessons in the morning and then want to head back to the chalet in the afternoons. But then again, the snow park and off piste/ parapenting possibilities make Chinaillon an interesting base for more experienced sports enthusiasts too.
The proximity of Chalet des Momes to the bus stop for the regular shuttle buses, the pistes, and the village, means that all guests can be independent, whatever activities they wish to pursue, winter and summer alike. The shuttle bus service serving Grand Bornand and Chinaillon is so frequent and reliable, guests can if they prefer, leave the car parked up for the duration of their holiday.
The picture window in the living room frames beautiful views, all year round, and the terrace off the main living space is a total suntrap.
The owners have really put some effort into providing everything guests require for a superb relaxed holiday. The newly-created outdoor jacuzzi space is beautiful, practical, and private.
A new family bathroom has just been installed, a new kit room means that wet kit is not brought into the main living areas, and is dry and ready to go each morning. There is plenty of room for skis in the winter and bikes in the summer.
The mezzanine bedroom overlooks the dining table and kitchen. The space can be made more cosy and private by drawing the thick floor to ceiling curtains.
It has its own shower room, other guests head downstairs to bed, apart from the two guests using the mezzanine.
The outdoor spaces at the chalet mean that guests can dine, read, relax in the jacuzzi, sunbathe, play boules on the area to the front of the chalet, or take in the natural beauty of the local waterfall not far from the chalet.

“We first discovered the area around Grand Bornand because of the summertime children's festival "Au Bonheur des Momes" hence the name of the chalet. We find the area to be quite simply magical.
Natives of Arras in the North of France, the contrast between where we live and the chalet is keenly felt each time we arrive. Our daughters Inès et Alice immediately head off down to the waterfall just below the chalet, a special dreamlike place for them to have discovered on the doorstep.
What do we like about Grand Bornand? In the summer time we love the many varied trails for walking, and rambling (also from the doorstep), and we also enjoy heading down to the lake at Annecy to dip our toes in the water, and dine by the waterfront.
In the winter time we obviously make the most of the slopes just opposite the chalet, and the apres-ski entertainment begins in the outdoor jacuzzi, with an unparalleled view across to the Aravis mountains and Mont Lachat, and only the surrounding nature for company.
We visited many properties before Chalet des Momes, this is the one that stole our hearts from the very first visit. The views are quite simply breathtaking and enjoying them from the sofa in the living room is like looking at a giant postcard, except that it's real!
The chalet dates back to 2004.
It's a typical timber and stone construction, with natural wood roof tiles (tavaillon), plenty of windows for the views and light, plus more modern touches such as central and underfloor heating and triple glazing.
Since buying the property we have completely revamped the decor and interior design, added all new furniture, soft furnishings and also the luxurious external Scandinavian hot tub spa, to ensure the chalet is comfortable, enjoyable, attractive, clean and warm.
We wish you many magical moments when you stay in our chalet.
